Strong Hand Tools Flange Alignment Pins – Steel or Stainless Steel (Select Material From Options Above)

Align and level flange bolt holes faster with built-in leveling and quick-release adjustment.
Strong Hand Tools Flange Alignment Pins are designed to simplify pipe flange fit-up by combining two adjustable conical alignment pins with an integrated bubble level. Instead of balancing a separate level across traditional fit-up pins, the built-in level provides a clear reference directly on the tool.

The two conical pins slide into the flange bolt holes and adjust along the center bar to fit a wide range of flange spacing. Quick-release buttons allow the pins to be repositioned quickly, helping reduce setup time during pipe fabrication, fitting, and welding.

Arc-Zone offers two versions:

  • SHT-FAP300: Heavy-duty steel model for general fabrication and shop use.
  • SHT-FAP300-SS: Stainless steel model for applications where stainless construction is preferred, including food-grade, sanitary, corrosive, marine, and specialized piping environments.

Available Models

Arc-Zone Part # Material Recommended Application
SHT-FAP300 Steel General pipe fabrication, welding shops, field work, and everyday flange alignment.
SHT-FAP300-SS Stainless Steel Food-grade, sanitary, corrosive, marine, offshore, and other specialized piping environments.

Select Steel or Stainless Steel from the options above.

Why Choose Strong Hand Tools Flange Alignment Pins?

  • Built-In Bubble Level: Eliminates the need to balance a separate level across traditional fit-up pins.
  • Two-Hole Alignment: Positions both flange holes at the same time for consistent horizontal alignment.
  • Adjustable Pin Span: Pins slide along the center bar to fit flange hole spacing from approximately 1.9" to 8".
  • Quick-Release Buttons: Allows fast pin adjustment, engagement, and removal.
  • Smooth Conical Pins: Designed to center themselves in the flange holes for repeatable positioning.
  • Precision-Machined Components: Helps improve consistency during repetitive flange fit-up work.
  • Steel & Stainless Options: Choose the material best suited for the work environment.

Built-In Level for Faster Flange Fit-Up

Traditional flange alignment methods often require two pins plus a separate torpedo level. The FAP300 design integrates the bubble level directly into the center slide bar, keeping the leveling reference attached to the alignment tool.

This allows the operator to position the pins, check flange orientation, and make adjustments without having to balance or reposition a separate level.

Quick-Release Pin Adjustment

Each alignment pin includes a quick-release button that allows the pin to slide along the center bar. Press the button, move the pin to the required flange-hole location, then release it to secure the setting.

This design helps reduce the time normally spent threading and unthreading fine-adjustment hardware when moving between different flange sizes.

Smooth Dual Conical Pins

The two conical pins are designed to slide into flange bolt holes and naturally center within the opening. Once both pins are positioned, the tool creates a stable two-point reference for aligning the flange before welding.

Using two pins at the same time helps maintain consistent positioning across both bolt holes and reduces the amount of manual adjustment required during fit-up.

1.9" to 8" Adjustable Pin Span

The sliding pin design provides an adjustable span from approximately 1.9" minimum to 8" maximum, allowing one tool to work across a variety of flange bolt-hole patterns.

This makes the tool useful when moving between different pipe and flange sizes throughout the day without changing to a separate alignment setup.

Common Applications

  • Pipe flange alignment
  • Flange leveling
  • Pipe fitting and fit-up
  • Pipe fabrication shops
  • Field welding
  • Pipeline construction
  • Industrial piping
  • Production spool fabrication
  • Food-grade and sanitary piping with the stainless model
  • Marine and offshore piping with the stainless model
  • Corrosive-environment fabrication with the stainless model

How to Use

  1. Identify two flange bolt holes that will be used for alignment.
  2. Press the quick-release buttons and slide the conical pins to match the bolt-hole spacing.
  3. Insert both pins into the flange holes.
  4. Allow the conical pin surfaces to center within the holes.
  5. Use the integrated bubble level to check flange orientation.
  6. Rotate or adjust the flange until the bubble indicates the required alignment.
  7. Secure the flange before welding.
  8. Press the quick-release buttons to disengage and remove the tool when finished.

Why Two Alignment Pins?

Using two flange holes at the same time gives the operator a more stable alignment reference than working from a single point. The two-pin design helps keep the flange orientation consistent while the integrated bubble level provides the horizontal reference.

This combination can help make flange fit-up faster and more repeatable from one joint to the next.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Flange Alignment Pins used for?
They are used to position and level pipe flanges during fit-up before welding. The two pins fit into flange bolt holes while the built-in bubble level provides an alignment reference.

What is the difference between SHT-FAP300 and SHT-FAP300-SS?
The SHT-FAP300 is the standard steel version, while the SHT-FAP300-SS is the stainless steel version. The stainless model is better suited for applications where stainless construction or increased corrosion resistance is preferred.

How far apart can the pins be adjusted?
The pin span adjusts from approximately 1.9" minimum to 8" maximum.

Does it include a level?
Yes. A bubble level is integrated directly into the center slide bar, eliminating the need to balance a separate level across the alignment pins.

How are the pins adjusted?
Each pin uses a quick-release button. Press the button to slide the pin along the bar, position it at the required flange-hole spacing, and release the button to secure it.

What is the pin diameter?
The pin base measures approximately 1.40" (35.5mm) in diameter. The conical shape allows the pin to center within compatible flange holes.

How long is the center bar?
The slide bar is approximately 10" (256mm) long.

Which version should I use for general fabrication?
For everyday shop fabrication and flange fit-up, choose the SHT-FAP300 steel model.

When should I choose the stainless steel version?
Choose SHT-FAP300-SS for applications where stainless construction is preferred, including sanitary, food-grade, corrosive, marine, offshore, or specialized industrial piping environments.
