Cable covers are always recommended for water cooled TIG torches. Designed to protect the lines, and keep them from getting tangled and kinked, which can limit the coolant and gas flow.

For air cooled TIG torches, cable covers are recommended in harsh environments where there is a danger of the power cable becoming cut, punctured, burned,or if you are running a remote amp control and want to protect the control cable.

The 3-3/4" (94mm) wide cable cover is the standard size for most hand held TIG torches and allows room for a control cable for a fingertip amperage control and/or on/off switch.

The length of cable covers is generally intended to be a couple feet shorter than the TIG torch leads. This allows room at the machine for the cables to be stretched to the different ports on the machine and water cooler.

Examples of suitable torches these cable covers fit: CK-MR140, CK-200, CK-300, CK-TL300, WP-125, WP-18, WP-20, WP-24, CS310, CS410, W-180, W-200, W-225, W-250, W-280, W-310, and similar torches.

For large/high amperage torches, the 4" cable cover is recommended: CK-510, CK-MT500, WP-12, W-400, W-500, WP-27, and similar torches.

I work at a college were the tig cables get material dropped on them all the time. These hold up really and seem to last about a year+ after really heavy use.
