Amplify™ Pure Tungsten Electrodes

The traditional choice for AC TIG welding aluminum with a balled electrode.
Amplify™ Pure Tungsten Electrodes are high-quality electrodes designed primarily for AC TIG welding applications. Pure tungsten has long been favored by traditional TIG welders for aluminum welding because it easily forms a smooth, rounded ball on the electrode tip, providing stable AC arc characteristics.

Each package includes ten 7" (175 mm) tungsten electrodes. Amplify™ electrodes meet or exceed ANSI/AWS A5.12, DIN EN 26848, and ISO 6848 standards for dependable quality and consistent performance.

Why Choose Pure Tungsten?

  • Ideal for AC TIG Welding: Commonly used for welding aluminum and magnesium.
  • Forms a Balled Tip Easily: Produces the traditional rounded electrode preferred by many welders.
  • Non-Radioactive Formula: Contains no added rare earth oxides or radioactive materials.
  • Traditional Choice: The original tungsten electrode used in early TIG welding applications.

Historical Background

Pure tungsten was the original electrode used when Russell Meredith developed the HeliArc® welding process at Northrop Aircraft in 1941. As TIG welding evolved, alloyed tungsten electrodes were introduced to improve arc starting, stability, and electrode life. Today, pure tungsten remains a popular choice for welders who prefer a traditional balled electrode when welding aluminum with AC current.

Protective Packaging

Amplify™ tungsten electrodes are packaged in clear plastic storage tubes with removable black vinyl caps. Each tube includes Arc-Zone's trademark wood strip to help reduce moisture contamination and support longer electrode storage life.

Arc-Zone.com is the only place we were able to find a decent quality Pure Tungsten which we use for many of our lessons. We order all sizes for our class to teach our students welding and grinding.
