Everlast Cyclone 212 – 230 Amp Dual-Voltage MIG & Stick Welder

Big MIG performance in a compact, portable package.
The Everlast Cyclone 212 is a powerful dual-voltage MIG and Stick welder built for fabrication, automotive repair, motorsports, maintenance, and mobile work. With up to 230 amps of MIG output, 160 amps of Stick output, and an intuitive digital interface, it delivers strong welding capability without taking up excessive shop space.

Its advanced PowerSet synergic function helps simplify setup by recommending starting parameters based on wire size, material type, and plate thickness. Experienced welders can switch to manual mode for full control over inductance, burn-back, spot timing, and other key settings.

Why Welders Choose the Cyclone 212

  • Dual-Voltage Flexibility: Operates on either 120V or 240V power for shop and field use.
  • Easy Setup: PowerSet provides recommended starting settings for faster, more confident setup.
  • Strong MIG Output: Delivers up to 230 amps for a wide range of fabrication and repair work.
  • MIG & Stick Capability: One compact machine handles both wire welding and electrode welding.
  • Portable Design: Multiple carrying handles and a space-saving case make transport easier.
  • Aluminum Ready: Compatible with an optional spool gun or standard MIG gun upgrades.

PowerSet Digital Setup Assistance

The Cyclone 212 is designed to reduce setup time and guesswork. Its digital controls analyze the selected process and help provide recommended starting parameters based on:

  • Wire diameter
  • Material type
  • Material thickness
  • Input voltage

The color display also provides polarity reminders when switching between solid-wire MIG and flux-cored welding. For welders who prefer full control, manual mode allows direct adjustment of voltage, wire speed, spot timing, inductance, and burn-back.

  • Optional Spool Gun: Use the SM200N-MTS or compatible Everlast spool gun.
  • Standard MIG Gun Upgrade: Install the proper polymer liner and U-groove drive rolls.

Important: Spray-transfer technique is recommended for MIG welding aluminum. Short-circuit aluminum welding is not recommended because it may produce porosity and lack of fusion.

Ideal Applications

  • General welding repair
  • Automotive and muffler shops
  • Motorsports fabrication
  • Construction
  • General fabrication
  • HVAC work
  • Factory and facility maintenance
  • Mobile repair
  • Farm and ranch work
  • Home and professional workshops

Recommended Materials

  • Steel
  • Stainless steel
  • Chrome-moly steel
  • Aluminum with the proper optional setup

MIG Welding Capacity

Steel & Stainless Steel on 240V:

  • Maximum Single Pass: Up to approximately 3/8"
  • Maximum Multi-Pass: Up to approximately 1/2"

Steel & Stainless Steel on 120V:

  • Maximum Single Pass: Up to approximately 1/8"
  • Maximum Multi-Pass: Up to approximately 1/4"

Minimum Steel/Stainless Thickness: Approximately 24 gauge when used by an experienced operator.

Aluminum on 240V:

  • Maximum Single Pass: Up to approximately 3/16"
  • Maximum Multi-Pass: Up to approximately 3/8"

Aluminum on 120V:

  • Maximum Single Pass: Up to approximately 1/8"
  • Maximum Multi-Pass: Up to approximately 3/16"

Minimum Aluminum Thickness: Approximately 14 gauge when used by an experienced operator.

Maximum figures describe machine capability. For sound welding technique, single-pass welds beyond approximately 1/4" steel/stainless or 3/16" aluminum may not be practical with this class of machine.

Stick Welding Capacity

  • Minimum Electrode Diameter: 1/16" on 120V or 240V
  • Maximum Electrode Diameter on 240V: Approximately 1/8"–5/32"
  • Maximum Electrode Diameter on 120V: Approximately 3/32"

Important: The Cyclone 212 is not recommended for E6010 electrodes. Maximum electrode diameter depends on electrode type and manufacturer recommendations.

Duty Cycle

  • Maximum Output: 230 amps at 15% duty cycle
  • At 200 Amps: 35% duty cycle
  • Stick Output: Up to 160 amps at 35% duty cycle

Generator Requirements

  • Generator must be rated by its manufacturer as producing clean power
  • Total harmonic distortion must be 5% or less
  • For 240V Operation: Use a generator rated at 10,000 surge watts or greater
  • For 120V Operation: Use a generator rated at a minimum of 4,500 surge watts

Using an undersized generator or one that does not meet clean-power requirements may damage the welder and affect warranty coverage.

Who Is the Cyclone 212 Best For?

The Cyclone 212 is a strong choice for welders who want more power than an entry-level MIG machine but still need portability and simple setup. It is especially well suited for automotive repair, motorsports, fabrication, maintenance, and mobile jobs where dual-voltage power and both MIG and Stick capability add real flexibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the Cyclone 212 operate on both 120V and 240V?
Yes. Its dual-voltage design makes it suitable for standard 120V power and higher-output 240V shop power.

What does the PowerSet function do?
PowerSet recommends starting parameters based on wire size, material type, and plate thickness. It helps speed up setup while still allowing experienced welders to fine-tune settings manually.

Can this machine weld aluminum?
Yes. Aluminum welding requires either an optional compatible spool gun or the proper polymer liner and U-groove drive rolls in the standard MIG gun.

Does it support flux-cored welding?
Yes. The machine includes polarity reminders to help configure it correctly when switching between solid-wire MIG and flux-cored welding.

Can the MIG gun be replaced?
Yes. The Euro-style quick connector makes it easy to replace the included gun or install compatible aftermarket options.

Does this machine support Stick welding?
Yes. It provides up to 160 amps of Stick output with adjustable Hot Start and Arc Force controls. It is not recommended for E6010 electrodes.
