PowerPlasma 52i

The PowerPlasma 52i is a compact yet powerful plasma cutter, incorporating the latest IGBT inverter technology. As the successor to the popular PowerPlasma 50S series, it continues to offer excellent affordability and performance. The 52i is fully redesigned with a digital architecture, reducing circuit complexity and enhancing reliability.

Key improvements include an air-pressure guide system with a digital display and LED indicators to optimize air pressure settings based on the mode in use. It also features digital control over Post-Flow, allowing users to adjust the flow time for different job requirements, preserving consumable life for long cuts or adjusting for shorter, intermittent cuts.

The large, bright digital displays offer improved visibility, even in bright conditions. Additionally, the PowerPlasma 52i introduces a gouge feature and a separate CNC mode. Its blow-back torch design includes two pilot arc modes—one for continuous re-lighting when cutting expanded metal, and a tip saver mode to limit pilot arc time and extend consumable life.

Plasma cutting capacity is affected by several factors. Ideal cutting conditions require dry air, new consumables, proper air pressure etc. Quality of cut depends upon consumable orifice size, standoff height, and travel speed. Reduce consumable orifice size for best quality cuts on thin metals. Units are shipped with starter kit of consumables designed for 40-50 amps cutting range. Minimum cutting gauge is virtually unlimited, but kerf will be too wide if standard cutting tips are used. For best results, use a smaller diameter orifice for lighter gauges.

Notes:

When using the CNC port, with a plasma table, the unit should be limited to 40 amps which is the 100% duty cycle level of the machine if it is to be used continuously.
A separate air dryer must be provided by the customer to prevent torch damage, and excessive consumable wear.
The unit includes a regulator/water trap, but is not designed to remove all water or moisture.
When used with a generator, the generator must be certified by its manufacturer to produce "clean" power (5% or less THD). Use a generator rated for 8500 surge watts if used on 240V. For 120V, a generator with a minimum of 4500 watts should be used.
For use with 120V, the cutting tip (nozzle) must be changed to a smaller diameter nozzle for proper operation under 40 amps. Lowering air pressure will destabilize the arc.
