Three Ways to Prepare Your Tungsten

1. Precision Diamond-Ground Taper:
Set the adjustable grinding head from 15° -to- 45° to produce repeatable tungsten tapers for improved arc starts, puddle control, and weld consistency.

2. Tip Flat:
Remove the sharp point and create a controlled tip flat to help improve electrode tip life and reduce the possibility of tungsten entering the weld.

3. Cut-Off / Score:
The built-in cut-off and scoring feature lets you remove contaminated portions of an electrode instead of bending or breaking the tungsten.

The enclosed grinding wheel provides a controlled tungsten grinding area compared with using an open bench grinder or belt sander. The dedicated tungsten design also helps keep electrodes away from grinding surfaces that may be used on other metals.

What tungsten sizes can it grind?
The Sharpie DXCL™ supports .040" (1.0mm), 1/16" (1.6mm), 3/32" (2.4mm), and 1/8" (3.2mm) tungsten electrodes with the appropriate collet.

Is the .040" collet included?
The standard grinder does not include the .040" collet. It is sold separately or included with the Pro Kit.

What grinding angles are available?
The adjustable head provides grinding angles from 15° -to- 45°.

Does the grinder include a diamond wheel?
Yes. A double-sided diamond grinding wheel is included.

Can it cut contaminated tungsten?
Yes. The Sharpie DXCL™ includes a cut-off / scoring feature for removing contaminated sections of tungsten.

What's the difference between the standard grinder and Pro Kit?
Both include the grinder, standard collets, battery, and 230V EU charger. The Pro Kit adds the .040" collet, replacement grinding wheel, Arc-Saber tungsten storage container, and Pro Series TIG Calculator.

Should I use a different wheel for 1/8" tungsten?
For continuous grinding of 1/8" (3.2mm) tungsten, we recommend the Heavy-Duty grinding wheel.
