Jack A socket on the front of a welding machine that accepts a connector on the end of the electrode or work lead.
Jig A fixture or template used to accurately position and hold a part during welding or machining.
Joint Where two pieces meet when a structure is made of smaller pieces.
Joint design The joint geometry together with the required dimensions of the welded joint.
Joint geometry The shape and dimensions of a weld joint, in cross section, prior to welding.
Joint penetration The minimum depth that a groove or flange weld extends from its face into a joint, exclusive of reinforcement.
